The Da Vinci Code - Short Film Review

26th May 2006

movies / reviews

I saw The Da Vinci Code this Wednesday in cinema, after waiting to see it for a very very long time! I had read the book in October and finishing it in 3 weeks, which is very quick in my standards!

The film is good. It's get you guessing till the end, when everything will then become evident! If you've read the book, you'll realise that the story is changed a bit to make it fit in the two hours!

I think since the film was aimed for as large an audience as possibile (has a 12A certificate in UK for example), the writers and producers haven't made the film as dark as it could have been (compared to the book), and all the exciting scenes pass by without any gasp or suspense! (well, not for me anyway!)

Tradeoff I guess: more people watching=more money or less people but an exceptional film! I don't want to write a big review, since there is loads of them available on the internet, but I would summarise the film as Commercial but nice to watch! Certainly not one to own on DVD (as they put it in the adverts!). The book is definately more interesting than the film in my opinion! If you've seen the film, why not give your opinion about it?
