I have come across radio stations on the internet which only offer their broadcast in one media format, rather than letting users choose from a variety, not to mention quality (as some users might be on a narrow-band connection) of streams. On several occasions I was put off listening to the radio because it offered its stream in PLS playlist format, while I was on a work computer which didn't have Winamp which can 'understand' the file; and Windows Media Player simply refuses to play the stream.
